Paul Michael Ramirez, PhD is a retired Professor of Neuroscience/Neuropsychology, Psychopathology, and Psychopharmacology within the Doctoral Program in Clinical Psychology and a Professor in the Graduate Division of Pharmaceutical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Long Island University in New York City. Dr. Ramirez completed his doctoral degree in Psychology at The City College of The City University of New York, specializing in Clinical Neuropsychology and a subspecialization in Clinical Psychopathology, while on a National Science Foundation Fellowship. He later completed a Postdoctoral Program in Psychopharmacology at Fairleigh Dickerson University. Dr. Ramirez also earned an M.Phil. in Neuropsychology from the Graduate School & University Center, City University of New York, an M.A. Degree in Psychology from the City College of New York, and an M.A. Degree in Reading Disabilities with a postgraduate year studying Learning Disabilities at New York University.

Dr. Ramirez has served on the Board of Advisors at the Center for Advanced Studies in India (CASII-Bhuj, Kutch (also called Kachchh) in the District of Gujarat) as a clinical trial expert. He has also served as President of the Southeast Biofeedback and Clinical Neuroscience Association, Vice President of the New York Academy of Traumatic Brain Injury. He has completed two 5-year terms on the New York State Board for Psychology where he served as Chairman of the Board.

With over 200 professional presentations in the past 30 years, Dr. Ramirez has provided rater training for CNS scales and in assessing cognitive disorders throughout North America, South America, Central America, Asia, Eastern and Western Europe, Scandinavia, and South Africa. He is the co-founder and CEO of the Prophase Training Group (now doing business as MedAvante/ProPhase). With numerous published papers on schizophrenia and other major mental disorders, he has been a Principal Investigator on research grants from the National Institute of Health (NIH), the National Cancer Institute (NCI), The National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), and pharmaceutical industry sponsors. Dr. Ramirez is also on the editorial board of Dataset for Medicine (Psychiatry), a co-author of the Informant Questionnaire for the PANSS (IQ-PANSS), and a co-author of the official Japanese translation of the PANSS.
