Dr. Marcus is a seasoned neuroscience drug development leader with more than 30 years of experience. Most recently, he supported the KarXT lifecycle management program at Bristol Myers Squibb and previously served as SVP of Medical at Karuna Therapeutics, contributing to the development of KarXT, a novel antipsychotic. He has also held CMO and senior R&D leadership roles across multiple biopharmaceutical companies.
His expertise spans the full drug development continuum, with a focus on psychiatry, neurology, and neuropathic pain. He has led programs across indications including schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, and migraine, and is widely recognized for his strategic leadership and clinical trial innovation.
Dr. Marcus spent 23 years at BMS, including as Executive Director of Global Clinical Research, where he led the Abilify® lifecycle management program, resulting in more than 20 NDAs and sNDAs, and contributed to the design of approximately 350 clinical trials. He earned his B.A. from the University of Virginia, his M.D. from the University at Buffalo (SUNY), completed his psychiatry residency at New York-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, and has authored 90+ publications.
