Justin Brooks, M.D., Ph.D., is a physician-engineer and scientist. Currently, he serves as the director of strategic initiatives at the University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing, with his primary appointment as an associate professor of computer science and electrical engineering at UMBC. In the private sector, Brooks built and sold a company specializing in biomedical engineering solutions for psychophysiologic analysis and currently leads another medical device company that is developing an FDA-designated breakthrough device for sleep medicine. Brooks also served as a medical director at a publicly traded pharmaceutical company and as a civilian scientist at the Army Research Laboratory, leading multimillion-dollar applied research initiatives.
Brooks has earned wide recognition, including an Official Commendation from the U.S. Army, numerous awards from specialized conferences, prestigious grants, and authorship of numerous peer-reviewed publications. He is a highly sought-after speaker and panelist at the NIH, media engagements, and international biotechnology summits.
