Rashmi Patel, M.D., Ph.D. 

Rashmi Patel, M.D., Ph.D.,is a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of Cambridge, a board-certified psychiatrist at the South London and Maudsley (SLaM) NHS Foundation Trust, UK, as well as a senior clinical lecturer and a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Advanced Fellow at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), King’s College London. He specializes in psychiatry and provides expertise in the design, execution, and clinical interpretation of research studies for global pharmaceutical companies. 

During his Ph.D., he developed natural language processing (NLP) techniques to investigate clinical outcomes in people with mental disorders using de-identified electronic health record (EHR) data. He has applied these techniques in academic and industry-funded studies to better understand the associations of pharmaceutical treatments with outcomes and to support novel clinical prediction approaches in precision psychiatry. Patel has over 160 abstracts and journal publications and is an invited speaker/chair at numerous international conferences.
